Over a two year period, I wrote the scripts for a series of 3D animations designed to show the benefit of various technologies under development at the software R&D lab where I used to work.

Using PowerPoint presentations is all well and good if you are there to deliver it, but we found there were two big problems with sending PowerPoint presentations across the globe- there is no guarantee that the person you have sent your presentation to has the fonts you have used in yours (unless you know how to save the fonts with your presentation, which not too many people do), and without a commentary, are they really going to get the message you want them to get.

Our solution was to consider the user benefits our technology could deliver, and build a story around them. We aimed to keep each animation to less than three minutes in length, and generally succeeded.
